Travel writing

Whilst abroad travel writing is a distinct genre, in India very few publications employ specialized travel writers. They rather assign their writes with such tasks as part of an extra bonus for their hard work. So any journalist or writer being sent for such an assignment enjoys the paid for holiday. Otherwise the other option used by most publications is to research articles on the web and then re-write them and copy paste pictures of those designations.

However, the fact remains that this genre of writing does require special training, along with specific writing factors to be maintained in mind when writing such articles. For instance, the travel writers are aware of what factors the readers would be interested in, in a particular destination. Thus, research needs to be done. All places may not be of historic relevance, as each one has their own distinctive attractions.

Travel writing requires one to understand what is of tourist value and then write on those factors as well as get attractive pictures too. Most travel writers initially source out information from the tourist departments of the selected destination. There are some large-scale travel agencies and travel related publications that appoint travel writers who are sent to varied places to profile them completely. A fun-filled writing job no doubt!
